You can purchase a Day and Night® media filter with MERV ratings of 8, 11 or 13. MERV stands for minimum efficiency reporting value. These ratings are used to compare the efficiency of different filters. MERV ratings range from 1-16. Generally speaking, a higher MERV rating indicates better filter performance. By having an efficient filter, you are protecting your HVAC system from collecting dust particles on the coils as well as improving your indoor air quality.

If indoor odors are a problem in your home, Day and Night® carbon filter is the ideal filter for you. The carbon impregnated media acts as a magnet for tiny odor particles and captures them within its pores, leaving your home smelling fresh and clean. These filters are not measured in efficiency by MERV ratings because they are intended to capture odors. A few of the unwanted odors the carbon filter removes:

Additionally, these filters come with pre-applied gasketing. This gasketing acts to form a seal between two or more conjoining surfaces to prevent any type of leakage. Basically, it forces all of the air to process through the filter media without any of the air passing through the sides.
