Special Filtration
The Comfort Plus™ Media Filters are available as electrostatic or carbon filtration, and they are specially designed to provide superior residential filtration.
Electrostatic Filtration - The Comfort Plus™ Media Filters use electrostatic filtration to filter the whole house of harmful contaminants. Electrostatic filtration works by using an electrostatically charged filter media. As air passes through the filter, it attracts the oppositely charged particles, similarly to a magnet. With a 98% efficiency, this is a highly efficient method of filtration and is up to 20 times more efficient than regular fiberglass filters.
MERV Rating - These filters are rated by MERV. MERV is the minimum efficiency reporting value, which is the scale designed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) to rate the effectiveness of air filters. The higher MERV rating indicates higher filtering performance. These filters are available as MERV 8, MERV 11, or MERV 13. The MERV 8 and MERV 11 filters remove particulates like dust mites, mold spores, pet dander, pollen, tobacco smoke, and bacteria; the MERV 13 removes the same particulates, but it also removes some viruses.
Carbon Filtration - The Comfort Plus™ Media Filters are also available in the Carbon Odor Block. This filter is designed to trap odors, which cannot be captured by ordinary particulate filters. These filters use activated carbon, which contains millions of extremely tiny, highly absorbent pores that trap the tiny odor particles. These filters help reduce common household odors like cooking odors, tobacco odors, garbage odors, pet odors, musty odors, etc.
Replacement
The Comfort Plus™ Media Filters are available in a variety of different sizes and come as either the MERV 8, MERV 11, MERV 13, or Carbon Odor Block. Any of these can be selected for any of the particular sizes listed. These filters capture many particulates, which can eventually lead to clogging and inefficiency of the filter. Therefore, it is necessary to keep these filters replaced regularly, usually every six months.
