Philco® Furnace Filters by Accumulair®

Have you ever thought about all of the things you do to protect your family and your belongings from harm? I’m sure you have a few fire alarms in your home to alert you when you may be in danger of a fire; or maybe you have an alarm system that will notify you and the police if someone is attempting to break into your home. Have you ever considered the fact that your air filter may be another integral component of your family’s safety?

Initially, air filters were designed to only protect the HVAC unit, however current advancements have enabled them to perform more active roles of safety within your home. The fibrous materials that filters contain act as a barrier for your unit and a sponge for harmful particulates that are freely floating around your living environment.

There are two different types of pollutants that could be present in your home:

Philco® media filters can be purchased with MERV ratings of 8, 11 and 13. MERV stands for minimum efficiency reporting value. This number is intended to assist in the comparison of filters. Basically, a higher MERV rating indicates better filter performance. Filters with MERV ratings between 7 and 13 are likely to be nearly as effective as true HEPA filters at controlling most airborne indoor particles. A few of the airborne particles these filters capture are:

In addition to the airborne particles, Philco® media filters may also be purchased with a carbon odor block feature. These filters capture some of the gaseous pollutants present in your home. The carbon activated material within these filters ingests the small particles that are created by harmful or unwanted odors. A few of the odors this filter collects are:
