Hoover

A Brief History of Hoover

Hoover got its humble beginnings in 1907 with a common janitor named Murray Spangler. Actually, this janitor was anything but common; in fact, when he was not cleaning, he was inventing. In this case, he happened to be doing both. As Spangler was cleaning one night, he realized there had to be a way both to sweep and to breathe without the dust and dirt aggravating his asthma. Inspired, he came up with a way.

Spangler’s idea involved a device that sucked in dust and debris as he swept. Realizing the potential of his invention, Spangler began seeking a way to market this “suction sweeper.” A year later, W.H. Hoover, who manufactured leather goods, bought Spangler’s patent and made him a partner in his business. His company began making these early vacuum cleaners, and Hoover began to expand outreach.

Hoover began marketing the sweepers by advertising ten free days of use for any consumer who wrote and requested the machine. The cleaners proved successful, and Hoover began a system of dealers in stores of cities in the area, a system that eventually grew to a nationwide network. Since its first suction sweeper, Hoover has grown in product creativity, spreading its success as one of the best brands in the vacuum cleaner industry.

Today Hoover is owned by TTI Floor Care North America, the largest floor care company in North America. For over 100 years, Hoover has been constantly striving to offer high quality floor care products, and they have succeeded.

Hoover Vacuum Filters

Hoover vacuums are highly efficient machines customized to meet specific floor care needs, but there is one small detail that cannot be overlooked when it comes to floor care. That detail is the vacuum filter used in the vacuum cleaners. What is the point of a vacuum filter? Well, a vacuum filter is actually very important; in fact, it can change the entire outcome of your vacuuming experience.

Vacuum cleaners pick up a lot of dust, dirt, and other particles that are held in carpets and in cracks of the floor. These particles are often spewed into the air when vacuuming, and when breathed, these tiny particles can trigger breathing problems like asthma and allergies, just like they did to Murray Spangler over 100 years ago. Allergens do not change with the times, but vacuum cleaners do. Today, Hoover vacuum cleaners use highly efficient vacuum filters that are designed to trap microscopic particles that are not trapped inside the vacuum. Vacuum filters can greatly improve your vacuuming experience, not only improving your floor care but also improving the conditions of household air. This means a healthier, more comfortable home environment.

Hoover offers vacuum filters with various types of filtration. For example, they offer HEPA filters that are designed to remove 99.97% of particles 0.3 microns and larger, such as dust mite debris, mold spores, tobacco smoke, bacteria, pollen, pet dander, and hair. They also have micro allergen filters designed to remove allergens like grasses, dirt, dust, and grains. These filters all help to keep the vacuum running more smoothly and performing to a higher level of satisfaction.
