Accumulair Emerald is a high capacity filter that provides more efficient filtration at a more economical price. The Accumulair Emerald is given a MERV 6 rating, which means that it is a lower efficiency filter designed for residents with medium air quality. It uses a special electrostatic filter media that collects airborne pollutants like dust mites, pet dander, mold spores, and bacteria. With a dust spot efficiency of less than 20%, it is 8 times more efficient than regular fiberglass filters. However, the resistance to airflow is relatively low, which means more efficient, longer-lasting filtration. Accumulair Emerald filters come in many different standard sizes, but they can also be custom made to fit virtually any filter system.

Construction:

  • 100% synthetic media
  • Hydrophobic fibers
  • Does not support microbial growth
  • Pleated shape
  • Recyclable, galvanized, corrosion resistant metal backing
  • 2 piece heavy duty die cut frame

The construction of the Accumulair Emerald filter is very important for the efficiency, function, and lifetime of the filter. Made of 100% synthetic fibers that are both electrostatic and hydrophobic, the Accumulair Emerald maximizes filtration efficiency and inhibits the growth of microbes like bacteria, fungi, mold, and mildew. Also, this filter media is free of harmful chemicals, so the air filtered back into the room is clean, healthy, and free of harmful air pollutants.

A feature that enhances the overall performance of the filter is its uniform pleated shape. The pleated shape optimizes the filter’s dust holding capacity and allows for maximum airflow. To ensure against warping and bending, the pleated filter is laminated to a steel support that protects it against pressure from air moving through the filter. The filter is bonded to the inside of a two piece heavy duty die cut frame. Clay coated and moisture resistant, this frame is designed with horizontal and diagonal grid supports to add further support and durability.

How It Works:

Accumulair Emerald filters utilize electrostatic filtration, which is a step up from regular fiberglass filters, which capture pollutants but are not very efficient. With the Accumulair Emerald filter, as air passes through the filter, the electrostatically charged fibers trap the oppositely charged particles like tiny magnets.

The Accumulair Emerald filter is made to fit many different sizes, but it can also be custom made to fit any desired filter system without modifications. This filter is many times used as a primary filter for less polluted areas, but it is also frequently used as a pre-filter for more expensive high-efficiency systems in industrial and commercial buildings.

Accumulair Emerald filters are designed to last up to three months, but filter life can vary depending on several different factors. Air quality, for example, has an impact on the life of the filter; poorer air quality can result in shorter filter life, and other factors, such as rate of airflow and types of allergens, also can determine filter life. These conditions can cause contaminants to build up on the fibers and to lower the efficiency of the filter, so it is important to keep the filter replaced regularly.
