Most Ram owners will go years without thinking about the cbin air filter. It's tucked out of the way, out of sight, out of mind. It quietly does it's job, filtering your cabin air and we usually don't notice it until that day you get in your truck and you smell that...smell. If you're overdue, the good news is that this is one of the quickest, and easiest you can do yourself. You won't need a mechanic or any special tools. And the whole thing will take less than fifteen minutes. With practice, we got it down to under 3 minutes! Below is a step by step video that walks you through how to to replace the cabin air filter on a 2023 Dodge Ram 1500 using the Dust Armor CAFDA-R01.
What You'll Need
The Dust Armor CAFDA-R01.
That's it.
Step 1: Open and Empty the Glove Box
On the passenger side, open the glove box and take everything out. You'll need all that stuff out of the way so it isn't dropping on you later on.

Step 2: Disconnect the Dampler Cord
On the right side of the glove box you'll find a damper cord. The dampler cord is a small cord that controls how far the glove box door opens. Lift the door slightly and then pull tab at the end of the damper cord on the inside of the glove box down until it unhooks. You can then just let the damper cord hang free.

Step 3: Release the Glove Box
Feel along the back corners at the top of the glove box for two tabs. Squeeze both of them in at the same time, the pull the glove box toward you and let it drop. Once the top tabs are free you can lower the glove box all the way and pull it off the three hinges at the bottom. Once those are free you can pull the whole glove box out and set it aside.

Step 4: Remove the Filter House Cover
Once you got the glove box out of the way, you'll be able to see the cabin air filter housing directly behind. There are two locking tabs on the housing cover. One on each side. Unclip both and pull the cover off and set it aside. Make sure to note the arrow showing the air flow direction.

Step 5: Take out the old cabin filter
With the cover off you can now take out the old cabin filter. Throw that nasty thing away and take a few seconds to wipe out (or vacuum out) any debris and dust inside the housing.

Step 6: Install the new Dust Armor CAFDA-R01 Cabin Air Filter
Check the air flow arrow on the CAFDA-R01 cabin filter and make sure it's pointing in the same direction the cabin filter house cover showed. Once the filter is pointing in the right direction, slide into the slot and snap the cover back in place.

Step 7: Reinstall the Glove Box
Now take the glove box and hook the three lower tabs back onto the dashboard first. Then you can lift the glove box up and pop the upper tabs back in place. Then pull the dampler cord forward and pop the tab back into place. That's it!
That's all it takes. It only takes a few minutes to dump that old gunky filter for a new one. The CAFDA-R01 is a direct replacement for Dodge Ram PART 68548579AA and fits Ram 1500 trucks from 2011 to 2025.
