Healthy Turkey Pot Stickers

Since I’ve made this recipe and shared it with friends, I’m amazed by how many people have never heard of a pot sticker before! Come on people! They serve them at a TON of restaurants! Usually they can be found on the appetizers section of most menus. But sometimes, I don’t want just a small, appetizer serving of something that is as delicious as pot stickers, so I figured out how to make these puppies myself so I could have way more than the normal 5-6 they bring out before my meal at dinner.

I used about a pound of ground turkey in mine; normally they use some kind of pork at restaurants. The pound of turkey made about 50 pot stickers (I have to share with a lot of friends!)  So, if you don’t want that many pot stickers, then you might want to cut the recipe in half.

 

Directions

Brown turkey meat with 2 tsp. of sesame oil in a skillet.

Mince the onion, pepper, and the garlic

Remove turkey meat from heat and put it in a mixing bowl. Set aside. Add 2 more tsp. of sesame oil to the skillet and add the minced vegetables on medium-high heat letting them sauté. Add 2 tsp. of salt while sautéing.

Add 1 egg to the meat. Add sautéed veggies and 1 ½ tsp. soy sauce to the meat and mix together.

Take 1 wonton wrap and wet all the edges by dipping your finger in a cup of water and smoothing the sides. Take a spoonful of the meat mixture and place in the middle (being careful not to overload the center with the mixture)

Meet the corners together, pressing the sides down so that the mixture doesn’t fall out the sides. You can crunch the edges together and fold the top down if you like the look of that better.

In a skillet, heat 1 tbsp. of sesame oil on medium heat. In a medium pot, heat 1 cup of water. Brown both sides in the heated skillet for 3 minutes each.

Once browned, stick them in the medium pot to steam for 2 minutes.

Remove from the pot onto a plate. Enjoy with the sauce.

Sauce

In a saucepan, add 1 Cup of soy sauce, 2 tsp. of rice vinegar, 2 tsp. of water, 2 tsp. of sugar and cook on high. Once it begins to boil, reduce to low and simmer.

Ingredients for Pot Stickers & Sauce

  • 1 lb ground turkey meat
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 yellow onion
  • 6 garlic cloves
  • 1 Egg
  • Soy sauce
  • Rice vinegar
  • Sesame oil
  • Salt
  • Sugar
  • Water
